All the way from the Timmins region, Abitibi Sled Dogs is bringing an authentic northern adventure straight to Ancaster! Led by Jacob, a professional musher and educator with years of experience running dogs in Northern Ontario, Abitibi Sled Dogs is known for preserving the tradition, history, and heart of Canadian dog sledding.
Jacob’s team works year-round to train, care for, and celebrate their incredible Alaskan Huskies - athletes with deep ancestral ties to winter travel and the fur trade routes that shaped our country. Their mission goes beyond the thrill of the ride: they’re passionate about teaching people how sled dogs live, work, play, and thrive, and about honouring the rich cultural history of dog-powered travel in Canada’s North.
Now, for the 2026 Hamilton Adventure Expo, you can experience it yourself!
Dog sled rides will be available onsite and bookable at check-in at an additional cost, with sessions running from our Winter Fest Courtyard on both Saturday and Sunday. Dog sledding is only available between 12-4pm both days.
Whether you’re hopping on for a ride or stopping by to say hello, you’ll have the chance to meet Jacob and his dogs, learn how a real sled team operates, and discover why dog sledding remains such an iconic part of Canada’s outdoor heritage.
Come feel the energy of the dogs, hear their stories, and experience a piece of northern history - right here in Hamilton.
